Family Defects is a comedy about the machinery a family builds backstage of itself: committees, stamps, weather reports, and departments that appear the moment a feeling shows up at dinner. Nobody voted these offices into existence. They are open anyway.
The Backstage Room conceit
Behind every ordinary family scene sits a second set: a bureaucracy that intercepts the actual conversation and processes it instead. A worry becomes a Risk Assessment. A silence becomes a Ministry of Denial filing. An apology becomes freight on the Guilt Conveyor Belt. The institution is the joke; the family underneath it is real, and the show never forgets that.

Family Defects is satire about universal patterns, not a clinical claim about anyone. The Bellmont family is entirely fictional. No institution on this site is a real department, and no pattern described here is a diagnosis, genetic claim, or retrospective medical judgment about any real person, living or dead.
